Spiderman Scarf by harelquin-demon Spiderman Scarf by harelquin-demon
this is one of my many christmas projects.

its for my cousin who is a fan of spiderman and i think hes going to be the coolest elementary kid on the playground when it starts to get chilly out!

i think this is really cool because ive recently taught myself how to double knit and i was wondering if you could do it with more than two colours, whether its true or not i did it. and i think it came out pretty cool.

this is also a entry for #dAKnitters Lets go to the movies contest.

which side will you choose?

spiderman (c) Marvel (i think)
pattern (c) me!

PS sorry about the uncreative crappy picture....maybe ill put up a better picture one day.....

Hi there. I was wondering if I could get the pattern for this scarf. I just taught myself how to knit and my 4yr son is a HUGE spiderman fan. I just finished making him a spiderman beanie and hoping to get a great pattern for a scarf. He saw this one and was absolutely floored, if you had a pattern for a reversible knit hat that would also be great. I am not looking to share or sell your pattern, or even make it to sell. Just hoping to make one for my little one.

I'm glad you like it, but as other comments state I don't share my patterns just because you demand it. I don't have any PDF files. Everything I have is in paper so I can't send it to people. Plus I have an online shop and I sell similar items and I don't want anyone getting paid for my hard work.
Thank you for the comment.

I really envy that skill of double knitting while adding in more colors...but now the challenge is to double knit with three colors and two designs on different sides....challenging I think so....

no its the same as double knitting, but when you arent using the colour you just weave it between the two. but yeah it was a little difficult, mainly because it was so TANGLED! eventually all i did was used one colour from a ball then used the other 2 colours as really long strings that i could easily pull to get ride of the nasty tangles.
i already do double knitting with different designs on both sides, my LOL hat and the dethklok one had each had a bizarre chart in order to compensate and make both sides reversible (instead of the cookie cutter reverse side) and im now working on a toque for myself in the same reversible fashion.

me thinks you are challenging me too......maybe later

I'm trying to take your idea of "Puzzle Me This" Bag but making that into a scarf with "Love is a puzzle" by pinkparis1233 on one side and then on the other side with "Puzzle" by anice1994, but without the figures and the heart it would just be (me + you = ♥) like the "Love is a puzzle" so in your opinion would it be better to just knit it and then sandwich it or just double knit it?

And I can't wait to see the toque when you finish it (^.^)

could you send me the links? because ive never heard of these before so its hard to visualize and give my opinion.

have you done double knitting before? because if you havent making a reversible scarf with two different designs might be a challenge for you to do. especially getting down the technique and understanding the patterns created by the technique.

almost done it! i have one more row of the patterned chart and then i just have to decrease. looks really good so far.

Here is the front side

[link]

and here is the back, but without the figures and the heart in the middle

[link]

and I'm actually starting to double knit, well today, I'll be double knitting a simple blue and green stripped scarf, just basic for now but it seems that it's really just knitting a wider piece then folding it in half and seaming it...

Just started....and I am just dying to see the finished outcome...

i would personally sandwich it, because the patterns are so different. plus i would wonder about the size of the actual puzzle pieces because you want to put so much detail in the middle. i think mine were like 10 stitches across and that doesnt leave alot of detail for you unless you embroidered it (im not a fan of embroidering. Plus i would sandwich it because if you double knitted it you would have to flip the pattern so it would be able to be read left to right

you shouldnt have to sew the sides of a double knitted scarf. when you start a new row its important to twist your yarn together and that way you kinda combine the sides together. have you watched any videos? i learned the twisting technique from when i made my first illusion scarf but i cant remember what its called. if you cant find any good videos let me know

Is this made of cotton? If so, could you possibly make a longsleeve black t-shirt with the designs of Spiderman's black costume? And how much would you charge for that?

no its made with acrylic yarn.
i'm not a fan of making sweaters, ive only made one my whole life and it was very ill fitting even though it was suppose to be baggie. sweaters take a lot of time so it would be very very very pricey.

if you really wanted one what i would do would be buy a black long sleeved t-shirt and white fabric paint (they come in pens which would be nice to use)and use a fabric crayon to make the pattern on the shirt then trace it with the paint on your shirt.
this will take a day maybe two, and to make a sweater would take me a month or two

its always nice to inspire. this uses double knitting which is my favorite technique but i had to alter it to use more than 2 colours. its basically just knits and purls so your already 95% there!

Were you working with three threads as you double-knitted this, substituting the white for red on the one side?

I can't get over your cleverness. You've executed ideas that I've only briefly dreamed about!

No I didn't substitute white for red, if anything the black venom side was red on the other, the the black webbing on the spiderman side was white on the venom side. But yes I did use three colours, just whatever one I wasn't using I just carried it along until i needed to use it. So I used A LOT of black yarn, but what I did against tangles was have one really long piece of black and white yarn with a uncut package of red yarn whenever the black or white yarn got short I simply tied on a new piece and kept going. That way I could just pull on the black and white strings and untangle it in half the time.

Thanks I try really hard to challenge myself and when I get a cool idea stuck in my head I have to do it.

i tend not to share patterns, sorry. but if you want to try to make one similar and give me credit for the idea im fine with that.

plus it was really hard to make. double knitting is an advance skill that uses two colours in a reversible pattern and i had used three which was unheard of in my research of double knitting.

sorry again.
